St Mary’s Open Day

Stoma and Continence Awareness day, Friday 8th October 2010. This will be held at St Chad’s Parish Centre, Otley Road, Far Headingley, Leeds LS12 3QE 10am until 3pm.

On the day there will be a company exhibition, a number of trust services exhibiting their services, workshops for patients and a number of other ideas to help make it a good day out for our patients, carers and health and social care professionals.

Breakaway Weekends 2010

The next BREAKAWAY weekend, which is organised for children aged between 4 and 18 (and their parents) by people who have knowledge and experience of living with a bowel or bladder diversion, is proposed for the weekend of August 27th 2010 (3 days). The venue will again be YHA National Forest.

Fund Raising

Please let us know if you are interested in doing any fundraising for by contacting Phil Higgins on 07531 816469. We can organise for you a justgiving website, sponsorship forms and IA running vests. We would greatly appreciate any fundraising you can do for us and we will publish details of your event in the local newsletter.

To raise funds for us from the comfort of your own home, you can use this Easy search link click here as your search engine (instead of Google) and for every search you complete West Riding IA receive a payment (small amount each time but they all add up!). It costs you nothing to carry out the search.

2010 Subscriptions

Subscriptions for 2010 are due on 1 January 2010.

Subscription rates remain unchanged at £12 for those under 60 and £8 for those over 60.

All current members who pay by cheque will receive a letter by post informing them of where to send it.

IBD patient panel

The Leeds IBD patient panel aims to work with both IBD patients and the healthcare professionals involved in their care to improve the services that are provided to IBD patients in the Leeds area. The panel was set up in June 2008.

The panel is made up of a group of patients who have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). 3 committee members from West Riding of Yorkshire IA are members of the panel and aim to represent the views of West Riding of Yorkshire IA members to the panel. A number of healthcare professionals from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust regularly attend the meetings to offer their input into the issues being discussed.

West Riding of Yorkshire IA fully support the patient panel initiative. Our hope is that the work of the panel will ensure that the services on offer for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease continue to improve and meet our needs. The majority of our members have had their Ileostomies or Internal Pouches formed as a treatment for Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
