West Riding IA are organising a visit for members to Salts manufacturing centre in Birmingham on 17th October 2012. It is a chance to see how products are made, distributed and some of the latest innovations. It will be a full day trip leaving from Leeds City Centre around 8am and returning about 6pm. Cost of the trip is free and lunch is provided. You are welcome to bring one guest with you.

21st September - St Mary’s Hospital are hosting a Stoma and Continence Patient Awareness Day from 10am until 2.30pm at St Chad’s Parish Centre, Far Headingley, Leeds, LS16 5JT. There will be exhibitions, workshops and refreshments available. Please contact St Mary’s Hospital Continence, Urology and Colorectal Service on 0113 3055138 if you would like to attend.

Subscription rates remain unchanged at £12 for those under 60 and £8 for those over 60.

All current members who pay by cheque will receive a letter by post informing them of where to send it.

Breakaway Weekends

BREAKAWAY weekend are organised for children aged between 4 and 18 (and their parents) by people who have knowledge and experience of living with a bowel or bladder diversion.

The panel is made up of a group of patients who have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).  3 committee members from West Riding of Yorkshire IA are members of the panel and aim to represent the views of West Riding of Yorkshire IA members to the panel.  A number of healthcare professionals from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust regularly attend the meetings to offer their input into the issues being discussed.

West Riding of Yorkshire IA fully support the patient panel initiative.  Our hope is that the work of the panel will ensure that the services on offer for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease continue to improve and meet our needs.  The majority of our members have had their Ileostomies or Internal Pouches formed as a treatment for Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
